My kid is a computer freak (as am I, but I don't play games). She is totally into gaming, and as her HS senior project made this 60-something level game with Gamemaker. I told her she should polish it up and try to sell it. She didn't. She was majoring in game design in college, but lost interest and switched to straight IT stuff. I kept telling her she would be like Notch of Minecraft if she just wrote a kick-ass game (before she lost interest). She didn't.
Then she got a job doing something for a local place that submitted medicaid claims to the state. I told her she should automate it (this is what I do!) and then she could sell the same service to other places that submit medicaid claims. She didn't. They terminated her contract when, surprise, someone automated the process.
