TIL that Ethiopia has a unique calendar which is 7-8 years behind the rest of the world. The current year in Ethiopia is 2014.

I can add to my own bias as well, I had a PC capable of running the game with minimal issues.

  • Story was nothing crazy, but the individual side-quests and character development in the game were fairly decent.

  • Open world was smaller than your average, but far more detailed in many places than most any I've played before. Maybe it's after updates, but in my current playthrough I'm realizing all over again how dense this open world is. With plenty of gigs, cyberpsycho's, side quests, and secrets to explore. Games have a finite cap of the amount of shit that can be included to explore, and this game still has a fair amount.

  • Yes, game was broken and unfinished for console users primarily. Many PC gamers, despite some issues, were able to play the game to full. My friend who (at launch) had a 4-year old laptop that ran the game without issue and he has more play-time than I do.

I'm not saying people aren't entitled to their anger, but it's upsetting that the game gets hit with a broad brush of "it's dogshit", while overlooking some incredibly good aspects of the game. I didn't consume any hype, any media, went in with 0 expectations, and had them blown away. Half the problem is people consuming ridiculous amounts of hype, devs over promising in an effort to drive sales, and then gamers devouring the media and then giving EVEN MORE publicity through their non-stop whinging about the game.
