TIL From 1956 to 1996 the Mormon Church operated a program where Native American kids would be baptized and placed in Mormon foster homes, thinking it would "lighten" them. It was based on the Mormon belief that Native Americans were originally white until God punished them by making them darker.

What would happen if he walked back into a Church with his husband? What would happen if he tried to become a leader in the church? If he had wanted to use a church building to get married? You and I both know the answer to that, and the answer is that he would be treated unjustly.

I disagree. He would be told he couldn't use our building or lead our church. You seem to think he's entitled to that. We believe that homosexual behavior is a serious sin. If you've committed serious sins you're not leading us. If you don't like that clearly this church isn't for you. You act like people aren't given a choice to believe or not.

Yes, this is discriminatory. It's unjust.

Welp, we're not going to agree on that.

Except for people who want to get married or transition to a different gender and stay in the Church.

(and by we I mean the Mormons I've been around)

And no, I don't use my beliefs against anyone and nor does anyone I'm directly aware of. We don't condone such behavior, but I have gay friends and family and I'm as kind to them as any other human being. Just because we differ in beliefs doesn't mean that I'm suddenly being discriminatory.

We hold that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that other forms of marriage are not.

No, no it's not. Prejudice is literally judging someone's character or worth without adequate knowledge of the person to do so. Believing that a person's marriage is not ordained of God does not equate to believing that they somehow worth less as a human being.

I'd start by inviting you to start inviting gay people to your house. Let me know how long the church is kind and loving.

I do. One of my best friends is openly bisexual. Not sure exactly how I'd go about proving that but you can let me know if you'd like some form of proof.
