TIL that the Junípero Serra High School JV football team recorded a historically bad season in which they failed to win a game or even score a touchdown yet they never attempted to start their backup quarterback. That backup quarterback they refused to start is 4 time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.

I went to Serra. Class of 05. Tom came back our freshman year and spoke to us after the Patriots beat the Rams in the Superbowl. For starters, I know who Brady's coach was. By the time that I got to Serra he was fired from his coaching job and he was strictly a guidance counselor. I can't speak to his coaching abilities since he was essentially fired by the time I showed up to school and only kept a job by hosting homeroom and being a guidance counselor, but he was incompetent at both of those jobs too. He was the absolute worst. Also, Serra was a complete shithole of a school.

It is an all boys catholic school that people only go to for two reasons.

Reason one, for sports, because it does actually produce some great athletes (Barry Bonds, Lynn Swan, Brady and more). I know that incompetent coaching is the issue here but even in college, Brady was never expected to be who he was, and Again, by the time I showed up the football program had a complete overhaul.

Reason two, Your parents forced you to go because they had some sort of backwards logic involving the idea that an all men's catholic school was going to be better then public schools in the area, even though San Mateo County has a very good public school system.

So basically, you went there to play sports or you hated the school. I think you can guess which side I am on.

Another funny ironic thing about Serra is the homophobia. I have no idea if this is still the curriculum at the school, but when I was there in the early 2000's, it was one of the most bigoted schools in Northern California. We had theology all four years and we were explicitly told any homosexual activity was wrong. Don't worry, the straight kids got their shit too. There was a guy a grade above me that got expelled because they found out he was having sex with a girl at our sister school via some pissed off dad finding pictures. And a quick note on one of our sister schools, Notre Dame in Belmont. The girls there got expelled if they were pregnant.

The real fun part was the fact that anyone that didn't go to Serra immediately called us faeries since we went to an all boys school (THAT WAS NOT OUR FUCKING CHOICE). Serra will take you if you have a pulse and parents to pay tuition, or you are good at one of the three major sports.

So since we had teachers saying that being gay is a sin, and every school within 25 miles pretty much just called us fags since it was an all boy's school, the homophobia was just out of control with the students. You want to be openly gay in a school 30 minutes south of San Francisco? No, you don't. You will get the shit bullied out of you, unless you transfer to a nearby public school which is free and not systemically homophobic.

OK, So I have proved my point on Serra from 2001-2005. Don't be gay, also, don't fuck a bunch of girls either because that might get you kicked out too. Also just don't give them any excuse. My best friend was expelled for LITERALLY NO FUCKING REASON after sophomore year. He had good grades but he talked back to one teacher for two semesters in our sophomore year and that was that. I was in the class, he might of half assed some things and clowned around a bit but that's pretty much all he did wrong. But our cunt teacher went to the school over summer and requested that the school "asked him to leave" in the middle of fucking summer. He is doing just fine by the way. He went to our local public school where he got to talk meet girls and have a good time. He now makes six figures and I bet Serra would love to send him letters asking for donations, but they can't because they expelled him for no fucking reason and without warning. He, instead got to go to a public school, where he did just fine and didn't have to deal with kids trying to fight him at house parties because he went to Serra.

I got kicked out my senior year because I got arrested. Now, I was guilty and charged, but I got expelled way before any judge dropped a verdict. Three other kids got expelled with me and one of them never had criminal charges against them. Either way, the kid who got arrested but was charged with no crimes got expelled.

TL:DR Fuck Serra high school. its a homophobic and hypocritical place that should be shut down and turned into something useful, like a garbage dump. Ohhh yea, and Tom Brady got snubbed or something.
