TIL the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK is suicide

It's amazing how goal oriented culture effects males in well, every culture. The cult of celebrity holds up.... what (?) maybe the top 1 percent, in any given discipline as important and noteworthy. You're valuable if you're a billionaire, if you can dribble a basketball and score or be a movie star with a burgeoning sex life. For the average male, he's made to feel worthless if he doesn't have his the status that gives him manhood. The house, the car, education from a top 50 school, job making a certain amount of money.... whatever. You could almost say that is a life and death struggle for a lot of men because of the shallow, self-involved society we live in. Obviously, this isn't the case with everybody. I know people who don't live that way. I couldn't possible subscribe to that way of life. But I also have friends who define the happiness by whatever is patently disposable and ego-driven. In order for men to be happy, they are going to have to find of accepted areas of status. Outside of the workplace, outside of the usual pubs and sports bars, outside of maybe even traditional family roles.... Men need to find out WHY they are unhappy.
