TIL That Marvel has banned comicbook writers from creating new X-Men or Fantastic Four characters, stopped X-Men and FF merchandising, and cancelled the Fantastic Four comic all in order to spite Fox, who owns the movie rights

> he was still kind of thought to be a 'dodgy' property, given his past, and none of the films he'd done since his return had anything like what happened with Iron Man.

But if anyone was going to play Tony Stark he really fits the bill.

>These reasons are why Marvel made the deal with Sony that Sony basically gets to keep all the financial rights to Spiderman, if they let Marvel take the creative reins. Even though that doesn't directly effect Marvel's profits, it indirectly does by making their brand stronger, and I think they made an excellent and long term business decision in that negotiation.

This was one of the smartest things they did. Wasn't there also a clause allowing for crossover in both directions in the future, with either parent company still owning the rights, but the production company behind the film being the bread-winner?

IE- Spidey shows up in Avengers, and Sony will not make profits, but an Avenger may make an appearance in the rebooted Spiderman, and then Sony gets those profits... I think?

Basically they signed a contract to play nice with eachother and work together, and that was an amazing development considering how disjointed things were getting.

I just wish Andrew Garfield hadn't fucked Sony over. I know my opinion isn't the popular one, but damnit I liked him as Spidey! The style they took with him cracking wise ass-remarks in the middle of the fights is exactly what I expect when I want to watch Spiderman.

There is one scene out of the 3 Tobey Maguire Spidey films that I loved (still makes me get misty eyed and tingly), but the rest of those movies ranged from "Meh" to "Fucking Shitshow" for me.
