TIL some researchers suggest that having a shorter index finger compared to ring finger is correlated with more masculine traits and vice versa.

These are scientifically proven as fact, but some researchers have suggested the following are correlated with having a shorter index finger compared to ring finger:

  • Longer penis in males

  • Higher risk of prostate cancer in males

  • Increased risk of ADHD in males

  • Increased risk of anorexia in females

  • Increased risk of psychopathy in males who have high testosterone levels as an adult

  • Increased aggressive behaviour in sports

  • Increased aggression overall in both males and females

  • Increased risk-taking behaviour in men

  • Higher rates of criminal offending as adults

Whereas the opposite (having a longer ring finger than index finger) it's suggested by some reasearchers is correlated with:

  • Lowered sperm counts in males

  • Increased risk of breast cancer (females) and heart disease (males)

  • Reduced risk of prostate cancer in males

  • Increased risk of obesity and metabolic syndrome in males

  • More feminized personality traits the longer the ring finger is compared to the index finger

  • Higher exam scores among male students

  • More likely to have paranormal or suspicious beliefs

  • Increased risk of schizophrenia and depression in males

  • Lesbians are more likely to be femme than butch
