TIL that the soundtrack for the animated movie ‘Akira’ was composed before it was animated. The animation crew created scenes in time with the music, rather than the other way around.

I saw Akira so many times that my first encounter of "its really only in the movies" was when I tried to jump off a moving motorcycle trying to evade the police as kids when I wasn't wearing a helmet. It hurt for half a year. The police saw it happen, drove by, and only laughed at us, we looked like learned our lesson, limping by.

It took me a lot of watches to understand what was going on, being a Dutch kid pre internet. The vhs deteriorated, and finally my VHS player ate it.

Later on, I met some guys doing shady stuff with DVD's, wich were hot at the time, and they managed to get me an original one. In Korean. But I knew everything they were saying. "Red Bennies*, three of them." "Hey, this isn't a dancehall sport!", "Lighten up pops, before your artery(?) is blowing". It has been many years since I've seen it.

Eventually, I heard about a remastered edition, wich I ordered, and it kind of sucked. But the cd with the moviemusic, that was a masterpiece. Really. The music made the film.

And it's the only manga I ever really liked. I'm not manga guy, but I honestly think being a manga doesn't do it any good, as people will expect things they usually see nowadays.

So. Yeah. I think it's a great movie, and the music did that.
