TIL: The "Starvation Doctor," Linda Burfield Hazzard, who wrote a book, "Fasting for the Cure of Disease," was convicted of manslaughter in 1912 for a patient's death by starvation. At least 15 deaths are attributed to her "care." While doing a fasting cure on herself in 1938 she died of starvation.

Ive done 10 day fasts twice so far with good results. I took vitamins and supplements to avoid deficiencies. But honestly looking back a 3-4 day fast followed by small portioned meals would have been just as effective. I probably wouldn't do a long fast like that again.

I mainly used it as a way to clear out my digestive tract and reset my daily insulin and ghrellin responses and control my appetite going into dieting. After the fasts, I would train myself to each food portions equal to what someone with a gastric bypass was able to eat. By doing so I went from 330lbs down to 215lbs in like 8 months.

Looking back it was a huge health risk, but not as huge of a health risk as being morbidly obese.

Its a little dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. You actually need to keep fairly active while you're fasting to keep your body burning fat so your blood sugar doesn't drop and drink lots of water.
