TIL that Steam was originally created so Valve didn't have to keep shutting off Counter-Strike servers to fix issues with the game.

I played TFC somewhat regularly up until about a couple years ago. It's by far the highest skill ceiling, fastest pace FPS game I've ever played. TFC ruined modern FPS games for me because nothing else even comes close. There's still a community of players who play private pickup games and the level of play is the highest it's ever been. Watching that clip from France v. Sweden in your video made me chuckle because the play there was actually pretty sloppy compared to what you would see in pickups today, and those were some of the best players in the world then when the game was far more popular. There's one person on twitch who streams TFC pretty frequently.
