Being an expert in one field does not make you an expert in any other. However, at least in medicine, people easily fall into this logical fallacy. Many doctors have been bankrupted by thinking themselves financial gurus who can beat the market. Others are dead because they thought they had the skill to fly a small plane through a thunderstorm so they didn't have to postpone clinic or surgery on Monday.
