TIL Ted Nugent dodged the draft by pooping in his pants for a week

I'm not sure why people sign up if they don't expect to be deployed and utilized in war. That's like going to school and being shocked that you're expected to study.

There was a guy in basic training with me who was on suicide watch, so I had to sit with him for something like 2 hours just babysitting to make sure he didn't do anything stupid. Anything that might have been used to harm himself (including even his shoelaces) was taken away and we were just sitting in this room together waiting.

I got to talking with him and he had apparently (obviously) tried to harm himself because he was regretting his decision to enlist. Apparently he had a wife and kid, but also supported hit parents because they couldn't speak English or work. He was the breadwinner of the family, and apparently had a decent paying IT job. He signed up for the military, and then forgot about it until months later when his boot camp start date arrived. He didn't think to tell anyone he was joining. Not his employer, not his family. Then he only regretted it two weeks into basic. I was gonna call him a fucking idiot, but ya know... suicide watch and all...
