TIL televangelist Jerry Falwell said in opposition to Brown v. Board of Education: When God has drawn a line of distinction, we should not attempt to cross that line.

True, but they apologized for that 50-60 years ago. More recently they've made some resolutions that continue that trend.

The group today is actually an interesting divide with maybe 60-65% saying "hold on, don't parts of the Bible suggest we should have racial unity, love the immigrant, care for the poor? Treat others like Jesus did?"

Meanwhile the other side claims a separation between individual and government/policy decisions. Their conservative roots cause them to support some really awful politicians, and policies that were invented at a sort of hidden Jim Crow 2.0. Or they hold an issue like abortion of such importance that they'll do anything to address it.
