TIL there is no evidence outside of the gospels that Jesus ever actually existed and what is commonly believed to be the original gospel written about him reads as an allegorical story instead of a historical account heavily implying that he was not an actual person.

This may surprise you but countless historians disagree. According to wiki:

The Roman historian and senator Tacitus referred to Christ, his execution by Pontius Pilate and the existence of early Christians in Rome in his final work, Annals..."

The relevant passage reads:

"called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus."

Scholars generally consider Tacitus's reference to the execution of Jesus by Pontius Pilate to be both authentic, and of historical value as an independent Roman source about early Christianity that is in unison with other historical records.

Jesus absolutely existed. The questions arise when discussing his life and work if you're a non-Christian.
