TIL that there is rock band called "compressorhead" consisting of robots who play real acoustic and electric instruments and are controlled by a MIDI sequencer.

Do you know what's awesome? We live in a time where I can watch that video and complain that the robots aren't complex enough!

I want to see a robot that can find the right fret on a base without the hand being bolted to a rail parallel to the guitar neck. By sight and feel.

I want to see a robot that can find the right string and fret on the lead guitar instead of having actuators pre-positioned over the right spots, by sight and feel.

I want to see the robots free standing. I want the drummer to have only two arms and two feet and have to move them like a human would. Maybe let it be fixed on a stool for support, though.

And I'd like to know the robots are bobbing their heads based on beat detection, and with the vigor of the movements determined by how hard they're playing their individual part.

And I want to know if those robots ever play death metal, they can make their eyes glow red and start slaughtering the audience.

Err... wait... let's hold off on that last one.
