TIL Tupac Shakur stopped to break up an altercation and ended up shooting two police officers. One in the leg and one in the butt. The charges were dropped after it was discovered the officers were intoxicated and had stolen weapons from the police evidence room.

Scarface called him Elvis.

As a nickname, he also said in interviews that Elvis took a lot of credit for what black people gave to the genre and everyone forgot people like Chuck Berry, same with the Blues was Robert Johnson and now Mick Jagger. He also said some scathing remarks on the white influence on Hip Hop and used Elvis as an example there too. He respects Em but calling him Elvis is probably less of a compliment than you think, contextually you're way out, if you can find an example with context I'll admit I'm wrong.

Scarface tells up and coming rappers not to let them (white people) dictate our music. "In 25 Hip Hip will have a new face and a new hero…like rock n roll… Elvis will be the face of Hip Hop.”

Rakim compared him to Mohammed Ali. “If Em was black he’d be the Muhammad Ali of rap.”

He's saying his popularity and respect would be much higher if he were black but most people think him being white is what makes him just so popular and if he were black he'd just be another rapper. Subjective, obviously, but the statement was out of context again.

We all know what Dre thinks.

Dre saw the talent Em had and snapped him up and made a lot of money off of him. He isn't going to slate him because Em and him are friends and collab often.

The smallest compliment came from Nas, saying only that he's amazing.

True, Em is amazing when he smashes a song which he does less and less.

Busta Rhymes smashed a windshield with his head the first time he heard him. I was nodding my head so fucking hard, going crazy, that I hit my head on the windshield and broke the whole fuckin' windshield of Wyclef's bus. It fucked the whole glass up.

It's not that he meant to do that, it was an accident.

Hov said he's incredibly overrated too, but I don't take that as gospel. Em was an incredible rapper and an anomaly to the hip hop game that took the world by storm and got so many people interested in Hip Hop when they would never have looked twice at it. I don't think he is currently as good as he was and I don't think he's as good as other people think he is, his quality and lyricism have gotten worse and he's more interested in making money makers which is a shame. Most people who think he's the pinnacle of the rap game are casual listeners who don't know much about it.

Better lyricists than him - Rakim, Nas, Big Pun, Lupe, Mos Def, Andre 3000, RZA (Underrated), GZA, Immortal Technique... The list goes on, but not a single one of them is more popular than Em outside of the rap game.
