TIL that when emperor Hui of Jin ( 259-307) was informed that his people were starving from a rice famine, he replied with the famous chinese version of let them eat cake: "why don't they eat meat porridge?"

Here is what I hate about people pushing for this shit.

I worked flipping burgers for minimum wage, factories for min wage, and hated it. So I worked my ass off to pay for post secondary. Then I continued to work my ass off making min wage and going to post secondary so I could stop making minimum wage....

Then guess what I did... someone felt they wanted to pay me more than minimum wage for my skills..

Then I worked my ass off again for years to earn well over minimum wage. Sacraficed social life for years to earn enough money to support a family, got married, got a house, got a dog, had kids.

Now all those expenses pile up, raises are harder to get when you get up to management levels, most of the time do not cover actual cost of living increases.

Now all these people keep pushing for min wage increases so they can "live" off min wage drive up the cost of living. Good and services go way up, small business takes hits, economy hurts a bit.

Now me, who worked my ass off 60-70 hour work weeks to get ahead starts to fall back, and gets squeezed with the increased cost of living, all while you who flips burgers for a "living" is now coasting....

Minimum wage should NOT be your goal to liveleyhood.
