This Time, I (26M) Mean It: The Beginning of my Journey

Similarly, alcohol was my biggest hurdle. Once I committed to 16:8, I soon realized that 18:6 was possible, and now I'm able to do OMAD, with extended fasts mixed in as needed until I get to where I want to be.

I haven't had any alcohol since I started, but the deal I made with myself is a beer and a cocktail for every holiday, and once restaurants open back up in my area, I'll allow myself a glass of wine once a month with a proper steak. Buying a bottle of wine and drinking at home encourages you to drink too much.

This way, I still can still look forward to alcohol in my life without letting it take over. But with the success I've had so far with IF, I haven't had any cravings for alcohol at all.
