Congratulations on your engagement!! Finding someone to share your life with, and the journey of parenting, is absolutely incredible. I couldn't be happier for you:-)

I've known my husband for 8 years; we married recently and both deeply want children. We discussed ttc before marriage on regular basis, and while we waited without much of a reason, in the end we were so happy we did. The 10 months of our engagement held a lot of surprises, and we reacted to them differently and processed things in our own ways. When I was ready to have kids - my fiance extended his graduation by a year and didn't feel so crazy about parenting as a student. When he was ready - I was laid off of my well paying job (with an abysmal 1 week of maternity leave, so, it wasn't perfect).

I'll be 33 next year. My husband will be entering his 8th year of a phd program, after which he'll ideally complete a series of 2 year post docs around the country (or world) until he's offered a position as a professor. When we start trying, it won't be because we have tangible things - loads of money, a house, etc. It will be because we are both on the same page, and getting married was a large part of that.
