At a tiny bar in Philadelphia in 1992, Tool plays for maybe 20 people and shows why they'd soon be playing for 20,000+

I'm 36 years old so I may be out of touch with how the music scenes are today, but I miss the days when a group of people who played the own instruments and wrote their own music could, through word of mouth become popular radio station bands.

I remember going to warped tour as a teenager and seeing small bands on small stages, buying their home recorded EPs and hearing them the next year on the radio. I have pictures taken on my digital camera I smuggled into the show of Yellow Card playing in front of maybe 100 people on a small stage. I remember seeing them later out in the crowd listening to other bands! Does stuff like that ever happen nowadays?

My understanding is that it's all rappers now, which is fine, just not my cup of tea.
