Tips/advice for public photography

Well, I don't think you're going to answer, but I'll answer you. I withheld my own position because I didn't want to bias you with it while I was suggesting you think critically about yourself. I'm sorry you don't enjoy thinking critically.

I don't take pictures of people because I don't find people very interesting on those scales. I mainly take pictures of bugs and lichens. I absolutely hate having my picture taken if it's known to me, and this is mainly because I don't like the way I look. It's also because there's always a chance somebody might use a picture in a hostile manner online.

However, I understand and accept that my feelings on this matter do not matter to 8 billion other people. I fully support our right to photograph each other in public. It's the only way I know for us to have any chance at all of documenting the abuse of police and other members of society, and that's important. It's more important than my feelings or yours. And in the absence of malicious intent, which most people would assume absent most of the time, no harm or damage is done to me by having my picture taken. If it happens and I don't know about it, it's exactly the same as if I do, except for the emotional reaction I might choose for myself in response to knowing.

Last, you're suggesting you would behave violently toward a person engaging in street photography. Are you fucking crazy?
