In terms of meds and a psych, they might work, they might not. I suggest people exploring that option if alternatives don't work.

I don't see how saying "I can't live this way" hurts. Schizophrenia or schizoeffective disorders are difficult to live with. Imagine every day thinking all your thoughts are being read. I couldn't live like this. I like to think freely. In fact it was at the moment where I said "I can't live this way, I must convince myself that mind reading is impossible" that the voices went away. That was after the other steps. It did work for me and my life has improved dramatically since that realization. May not work for others. I understand the high standard it puts on some people, but it worked for me.

Basically, all I'm saying is, you have to keep control of your thoughts. If you can't control your thoughts, you can't live.
