If you're living in an apartment, I agree with you. an equal split of the chores would include the man equally doing dishes, cooking, etc. But the moment you get your own house out in the suburbs, more "men's chores" start getting added to the list. yard work, fixing things around the house, working on the vehicles (changing oil, etc). When you live in an apartment or even a rented house, most of these tasks are taken care of by the landlord. But when you have your own house, these tasks, when they exist, take time and effort. My dad would work all week, and we'd have to help him do these things on the weekends. unhappy times.

so yeah, if there isn't anything like these tasks to be done, or very few, then absolutely. He should get off his lazy butt and help with the dishes and so forth.
