Why is the title "Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared" anyways?

"When you hug someone it releases oxytocin, also known as 'the cuddle hormone.' That's what makes you feel warm inside. Psychologists also say that oxytocin promotes feelings of devotion, trust and bonding. This allows us to connect to other people."

"scare To strike with sudden fear; 'alarm'. To become frightened: 'a child who scares easily'. 1. A condition or sensation of sudden fear: That mask gave me a real scare. 2. A general state of alarm; a panic: 'a bomb scare that necessitated evacuating the building'. Serving or intended to frighten people: scare stories; 'scare tactics'. Scare up Informal To gather or prepare with considerable effort or ingenuity: 'Managed to scare up some folding chairs for the unexpected crowd'."

"synonyms: frightened, afraid, fearful, nervous, panicky, agitated, alarmed, worried, intimidated, terrified, petrified, horrified, panic-stricken, scared stiff, frightened/scared out of one's wits, scared witless, frightened/scared to death, terror-stricken, terror-struck, horror-stricken, horror-struck, frantic, hysterical, beside oneself, with one's heart in one's mouth, shaking in one's shoes, shaking like a leaf, shaky, in a cold sweat, in a (blue) funk, jumpy, jittery, funky, windy, spooked, scared shitless, shit scared, shitting bricks, bricking oneself, frit, feared, affrighted"

With these definitions in mind and having shown my girlfriend (who likes horrors/scares/etc) this series (she said it's terrifying and she hates me for showing it to her, but has since calmed down after seeing the 'meaning behind' videos), it might be a play on context. If someone has disturbed you, the last person you want a hug from is the person who is responsible for being disturbing. It could be a "Don't touch me, go away. I'm scared." kind of statement, if viewed informally.
