The dynamic that Ellie and Dina had in the end reminded me a lot of the epilogue of Red Dead 2 (Spoilers for both btw)

The reason this is is because Ellie reminds me of John at the ending of Red Dead, they've been given a second chance with a family they now have, but ultimately they arent able to let go of getting revenge on the person who wronged them, with Ellie needing revenge on Abby for killing Joel, and John needing revenge on Micah for killing Arthur.

However, Dina reminds me of Abigail, ultimately leaving their past behind them and wanting Ellie/John to do the same, and not going along with them when they go to get revenge to take care of JJ/Jack.

The differences are that Ellie is immediately punished for trying to get revenge, as she finds Dina and JJ gone and is ultimately left on her own, yet John gets to live with his family for about 4 years until his past catches up with him as he's shot dead by lawmen on his farm in the ending of the first game.
