Today is the day you find Atlantis. It's right here, on Google Earth, hidden in plain sight.

This is off the top of my head so some numbers might be off. Correct me if I’m wrong. (And it’s probably choppy because it’s late here.)

Background: Plato’s wrote about the lost city of Atlantis in 359BC. He described a coastal civilization with southern access to the sea, protected by huge, river-studded mountains to the north. The civilization was built on two concentric rings of land, separated by rings of water (almost looks like an eye.) The people there enjoyed natural hot and cold fresh water springs in the eye of the land mass.

About 11,600 years ago, Atlantis disappeared into the sea in one day and night of turmoil.

On the coast of Africa, about 200 miles in and 1300ft above sea level there is a land formation of 2 concentric rings, measuring about 23 miles across. It’s called the Richat structure (the eye of the Sahara). He drew on these similarities: -the concentric rings of the formation are exactly as Plato described -11,600 years ago, when the oceans were deeper, this formation would be right off the Atlantic Ocean. Since then, the land has most likely risen due to plate tectonics, so at the time it was probably at sea level -around 11,000-12,500 years ago scientists know there was some sort of disaster (like a volcano or comet) that would have caused sea levels to rapidly rise, and weather to rapidly change. This could have easily caused a tsunami that would have buried the formation -the land flow in the area is indicative of just that sort of disaster. -there are natural fresh water springs in the eye of the land mass, despite the surrounding land only having salt water -artifacts related to a sea-centric civilization have been found in this area.

The dude listed off more similarities between this area and the legend of Atlantis, but those are some big ones. A lot of them were compelling.

————————————— It makes me think of the fun fact “Cleopatra VII existed closer to our time now than the time of the Pyramids.” Humans are really ancient. 5000 years ago we were building the pyramids, and that history is almost lost to antiquity. There could very well have had a prosperous civilization existing 11,000 years ago that’s completely lost. Far more advanced than the primal man that dotted other regions of the world. Hidden by changing landscapes and climates. Hinted at in legend.

I hope archeologists start getting interested in this area.
