Today, we know that violent video games aren't proven to be a cause of real life violence. But parents weren't just squares for being opposed to them

I try to explain to older people that simply terminating a scrap of code is different then ending someone’s life. I always tell them to think about it. If I shot 5 NPCs in a game it doesn’t have any consequences. They will eventually respawn and continue their pointless existence of walking around and potentially running shops. It doesn’t mean I’m gonna kill people without hesitation. We know that real people have families and friends and other things that defines them as a person. They aren’t some expendable being that comes back eventually. However, my parents don’t understand this shit because they don’t know what the hell an NPC is and they never even seen a video game other than it being in the news. The fucking media constantly targets the most popular game at the time and brainwashes parents with “doctors”. If anyone bothers to google most of these “medical professionals” you will realize they are mostly celebrity doctors or outright sketchy people. The fact that puts the frosting on the cake that older people refuse is that they are getting old. It’s a constant pattern that the older generation shits on a new form of media. And they always claim that “Oh, this is something extremely different and schools are getting shot up and you are spending too much time on that damned call of fortnite despite they’re are proven studies but fuck those because the media never lies to us just to jerk us off for profit”.
