Today's Tiny Problem - July 03, 2019

I have 3 SKs. This is the third year in a row that one of them has requested a large ticket item as a singular early birthday present. I support these items and think they are good gifts, but what happened last year was SO bought the item for SK months early with the agreement that that was it, and then proceeded to also buy a large number of presents on day of. Before you say I am the stingy SM, please note that my issue is not with the spending - it's mostly SOs separate money (I also voluntarily contribute my own separate money for these purchases because I want to). The two other SKs just get standard presents on their birthdays, no earlies, and they don't get big ticket items - the age difference is not large, all are teenagers (2 are twins same age). They've noticed this and mentioned it, and to me it smacks of favoritism. I've expressed to SO privately that I think this is unfair and he needs to stick to the one large, early present OR do the same for the other two kids with both early and day of presents. Birthday is imminent this summer and large ticket item was already gifted months ago, so we'll see what happens.
