In what way have i judged survivors of DV? I would never look down on someone who couldn't/wouldn't make the choice, it would be an extremely difficult choice to make and I would struggle with it too. And of course people should not be forced to make this decision, but the reality is that abusers put people and animals in these situations.

But ultimately, if the abuser has a pattern of animal abuse, you do everything you can to get the animals as far away from them as possible, even if it means giving them up, which is why I absolutely support organizations/systems like the ones you mentioned, so that people don't have to give up their animals at all. If I thought that the abuser had a way of getting the animals back, then I clearly wouldn't see that as an option anymore.
