Told I wear too much black for my job as a high school teacher?

Ok, first of all, I love that Pinterest board! I noticed some playful styling right away, and I think you're on the right track to achieve similar looks.

I like what others have had to say about adding in touches of color and softness. I don't think that means you have to abandon structure or your black and white palette. I would look at your inspiration pictures and decide what softens each look, or what adds a sense of joy/humor, because I can see there's a lot there- from incorporating graphic prints/typography, etc. to little pops of color or texture mixing. I saw some red, some shine/metallic, and just some variation in there.

Another thing I noticed was a clear play on "academia" - there were vests, ties, striped scarves...to me, that takes it into the fun category. Anyway, I hope this helps. I think you'll get a feel for it.
