I was in the first or 4th or 5th grade in near Dallas Texas. I remember our teacher got pulled out of the class to speak with someone in the hall. She came back looking noticeably upset and I could hear people crying in the hall. No one at the school told the students what happened but all of the adults in the building seemed off the rest of the day. Later, I got dropped off at my bus stop like normal. But my dad was waiting for me there, which was weird because he worked downtown and was usually home by 7 or so.

I asked him why he was home so early and he said that his company had sent everyone home early because of the attacks (he worked in a sky scraper in downtown Dallas). I replied with “what attack’s,” he was shocked I hadn’t heard anything yet.
