Tomorrow is the 17 year anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001. Where were you that day?

I was in Landstuhl/Ramstein, Germany. My daughter was born pre-mature (3lb3oz) several days prior on 8/29/01 and was in the NICU. My ex and I were medevac'd out of Rota, Spain due to limited medical care.
I was in the gym on a treadmill at Ramstein when the first report came across the tv's. I immediately went over to the base exchange to tell my ex and it was on the news there initially reporting a small plan had hit the WTC. Then the second. We knew immediately we had to get back to the other base at Landstuhl where my daughter was in the hospital. We made it and the humvees with the .50 cals were already positioned at the gates and id checks were beyond anything we'd ever experienced while serving in the US Military.
We didn't leave base for about a month finally making it back to Spain mid November (mostly because of my daughters condition).
The MOST awesome part...as I type this...she is at the Fort Meade, Maryland Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) right now enlisting in the US Air Force TODAY. I'm a proud dad no doubt! She's planning to fly as an [Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Operator]. Swearing in is at 4pm today.
