Tonight at Animal Kingdom...

Soapbox:

Sorry you're being down-voted, I think it's sad too. Not necessarily the Pokemon Go part specifically (I play myself!), but imagining hoards of guests staring at their phones mindlessly wandering the parks. You can be in denial and pretend "oh people are only playing because they're stuck in stores while it's raining" but let's be real - tons of people are walking around the park staring at their phones all times of day playing the game.

I think we yearn for the days where no one stared at their phones endlessly, whether we're talking about at a theme park or on a dinner date at a fancy restaurant. We remember when we were younger and visited WDW and the awe we felt and how the parks were a complete escape from reality. And now we see youths just staring at their phones like robots. Maybe it's Pokemon Go, maybe it's Twitter or Instagram or Facebook or texting too. But it is sad.

Ten years from now guests will remember that time they visited WDW and saw the castle and met the characters and viewed the fireworks, but no one's going to remember the Magikarp they caught on Main Street that they could have caught anywhere else in the World on any other day, in that game that they can't quite remember the name of. They won't remember seeing that James liked Sally's selfie shot on Instagram while they were eating at Be Our Guest. They won't remember that Donald Trump tweeted that really ridiculous thing while they were riding PeopleMover.

So, use your phones all day. I don't really care - it's your trip to the most magical place on earth, do what you think makes you happiest. But to me, it is sad.
