Huh. That's an interesting reaction. Because, where did they say it's insignificant?

When I first read the comment you're replying to, my interpretation was "Oh shit, in Hubei the death rate has been the same or worse than Spanish Flu? That's seriously bad news, because if those percentages end up translating to the rest of the world we're in real trouble".

In other words my interpretation of that comment was that it makes the current situation seem very significant indeed.

But that was just my interpretation... As far as I can see (unless they've edited their comment and deleted something that you saw and I didn't), they didn't actually say anything about "significance" or "insignificance" — it's just a set of numbers with no value judgement attached whatsoever.

If that's the case, I think calling the poster a "fucking sociopath" and implying they're trying to make anything "seem insignificant" is unwarranted and attaches meaning that isn't there.
