Too many smartphone apps not using most of them, but afraid to uninstall them ....

Here is what I did. Not saying you have to do it. But you don't have much to lose by trying it:

1: Go through and delete every app off your phone. Only keep ones you absolutely need that make a phone. Like phone, messaging, photos and camera etc. Even delete calendar, calculator, email, web browser etc. Disable apps that can't be deleted. Before you delete you can double-check but it is 2020 and so all the info is stored in the cloud you don't lose any data from deleting anything. Be ruthless in this process don't leave app "just in case" Don't delete photo ablum app because you don't want to lose photos.

2 (optional): If you know how to root your phone use ADB you can delete or disable even more apps like system apps or pre-installed apps that can't be deleted.

3: You should be left with as few apps a possible. When I did this these are the only apps I had left: Camera, clock, Photo gallery, my files, Messages, Phone, Google Photos (to back up photos), Spotify, Visual Voicemail and settings.

The only reason I couldn't get rid of Spotify is that I had so much music saved offline. Note absences of even basic things like calendar, calculator, a web browser and email from my phone.

4: As you find a need to use a certain app then reinstall it on your phone. The key here is as you find a need. Sometimes you will find that actually, you can wait to do it later on a computer, or you can do something the old fashioned way. Lots of website apps (banking, facebook, etc.) can just be done through a browser so you really don't need a separate app for it.

What happened to me: I've never had the need to put the calculator back on my phone and its been 4 months. It took me a month to put my calendar back on. And I haven't put my web browser on yet. Also, haven't found the need for uber yet. I now have 23 apps on my phone. Of course, my phone was already pretty simple when I begun this process. It has been like 5 years since I've had social media or games on my phone.

You'd be surprised how many apps you actually need in your life.
