"Our position in life, down to the individual level, comes down to our ancestory and the history surrounding that. You included"
I really don't like absolutes. Yes, you can totally choose to see your position in life as related to your ancestry, but you're equally allowed to ignore it or reject it and be your own person. There's no need to tether your opinions to the past when you've never even experienced the moments in history that led your ancestors to formulate their own worldviews. Like, I'm Jewish. If I followed your philosophy to a tee, I should be super sketched out by anything and everything German. But, like, I'm not. It literally doesn't relate to my life in any way, shape, or form. The fact that at one point almost a century ago my kind and most of the world didn't get along is so periphery that I'm completely indifferent to it. Like, it's a fact. It happened. Completely terrible, but past tense.
