Top Secret Security Clearance

I'm in the enlistment process as well (12B). My recruiters kinda sorta maybe suggested I don't mention anything about a neck injury and finger surgery (11 years ago). I didn't feel comfortable doing that because I am hoping to get into the 75th Rangers later on into my career and I understand Rangers also need to get cleared for secret clearances. I was told they do medical and moral investigations so lying would kick me out or straight up limit my options. I chose to be honest and now I get the feeling I'm not a priority (maybe the neck injury is a DQ and they know it). They seem sore about it. But can you blame me? Everyone I know who has been in the Army ALL warned me how recruiters will screw you over in some way. Once you get into BCT, you are not their concern anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere or just misinformed.
