Making the decision that he has to make, he then calls his wife, his sons, his co-workers and boss telling them the secret that he is bearing and trying to keep his job and family intact. But even more importantly, he will have to face himself and the choices he has made. Tom Hardy plays a man driving to London with a rich Welsh accent you could listen to all day. After sitting through this bold but exasperating movie, Xan Brooks almost feels he has Full credit to Hardy and Knight for making a film such as Locke. Low-budget film-makers could learn a lot from their method. And yet – having stripped away all but the bare necessities, having reduced the components to a car and a man – they make a classic error of overcompensation. Locke, it occurs, is quite the most garrulous exercise in minimalism I ve witnessed in years. During these calls, he is fired from his job, kicked out of his house by his wife, and asked by his older son to return home. He coaches his assistant Donal through preparing the pour despite several major setbacks, and has imaginary conversations with his father, whom he envisions as a passenger in the back seat of his car. When he is close to the hospital, Locke learns of the successful birth of his new baby. Tom Hardy as Ivan Locke The film was released on Blu-Ray and DVD on 12 August 2014. Rotten Tomatoes, a review aggregator, reports that 91% of 191 surveyed critics gave the film a positive review; the average rating is 7.7 out of 10. The critical consensus states: A one-man show set in a single confined location, Locke demands a powerful performance – and gets it from a never-more-compelling Tom Hardy. The film has a score of 81 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 37 critics, indicating universal acclaim.
