Torn between QC35 and WH1000MX3 - which flaws are worse?

You're saying the WHs have less bass than the QC35? That doesn't sound right. The Bose have a flat sound signature, and the Sony's are universally agreed to be more "exciting." I briefly owned both and that was my experience.

Also, you will get occasional dropouts using Bluetooth no matter the device, but BT 5.0 is a noticeable improvement.

The Sonys also have shallower ear cups, so a lot of people find that they get hot after awhile, which was my experience too.

I think comfort is a big factor gets overlooked, and that's where Bose excels. What's the point of having headphones with amazing sound if you can only wear them for short periods?

The thing that put me off about the Bose is that Sony released a great headphone with usb-c, custom EQ, and better ANC, and Bose still can't be bothered to either update the QC to having matching specs or drop the price to be more competitive.
