Toshiba Chromebook 2 vs Acer Chromebook 13?

Lol few hours ago i was asking the same question. I have the acer CB3 11 and was looking for a new chromebook with full hd screen and those two were my options. I bought the acer first, cancelled it, bought the tosihba and after a while i cancelled it agin to get the acer.

I have owned 3 toshiba's so far and have not had good experience with any of them. The IPS screen was what made me consider it in this case.

Performance wise, the toshiba has the same processor as my 11 inch cb3, and the performance is not bad at all for day to day tasks. I am a developer and use ssh a lot and have a lot of tabs open at the same time and the computer I have has no problem keeping up with me (although it only has 2 gb ram). The performance on the nvidia k1 used on chromebook 13 is comparable to the broadwell based processor on the toshiba on day to day activities, but it outperforms it by a lot on graphical tasks. So the K1 on the cb13 will be same or better than toshiba.

Boot time is about the same. It is about 3-6 seconds on both of them.

I checked both of them at local retailers, and the CB13 has a better build quality than toshiba, even though the toshiba looks good on pictures. The toshiba creaks and makes noises when you press the hinges too far, the acer is solid and feels sturdy in hand. Plus the anti glare screen is a big plus in terms of asthetics.

Both are not upgradable, however if you go with the full hd acer cb13 you will get 32gb internal storage instead of 16 on toshiba.

The deciding factor for me was battery life, according to numerous reviews the toshiba barely gets 6 hours whereas the cb13 gets almost the twice easily. The screen on the CB13 is definitely not good as the IPS on the toshiba, but its definitely not a bad screen by any means. It does not have the IPS color bleeding issue, and contrast and brightness is sharp. The toshiba just feels cheap and less sturdy when comparing both in hand. Also, the glossy screen on toshiba is prone to fingerprints over time.

Both are great machines for the price. If I were to go with toshiba it would only be if battery didnt matter to me and screen mattered a lot more. Good luck on your purchase.
