It’s just so incredibly damaging in a democracy to stifle people who are in organizations that we disagree with. I don’t understand the impulse to silence (for the record, because virtue signaling is important, I voted for Elizabeth Warren and then Biden last year so I’m not exactly a righty).

I will, however, say I disagree with your premise about organizations. I’m a member of the Democratic Party. However, I’m appalled by foreign intervention. Barack Obama intervened regularly. I disagree with him. I am not responsible for that nor should it be assumed I agree with that merely because I volunteer regularly for the Democratic Party.
