I know very little about Margaret Court but with these awards I try to evaluate whether the person has mostly had positive impact. Basically, I don't expect them to be perfect.

Fred Hollows for example did a huge amount of good with his optometry work and his foundation continues to have an impact.

That said, Hollows said some pretty controversial things about homosexuals and hiv/aids. Do I agree with those statements? No I don't. Do I think that Hollows has been overwhelmingly a positive influence and deserves recognition? yes.

To some extent, I highly respect people who focus on being positive and doing things that improve the world, even more so when a part of them is hateful or ignorant. It's kind of nice that the hateful / ignorant part hasn't consumed their identity.

No idea on Court though, I assume she played tennis? Ahh sports :|
