Transfers

Somebody like Mbappe is slowly becoming a must. Crucify me but I think this transfer period hasn't been a good one for us. I feel we've acted a bit naïve tbh.

We need another attacking signing imo. Losing Götze isn't the big issue, losing the option Götze is. Robbery are injury prone, Lewandowksi can only play up front, Müller can fill in but can't be seriously planned with a winger due to his individual ineffectiveness with the ball as a wide player. Costa and Coman are the only left and I don't want to overplay them since that already gave Costa muscle problems last season since we had no other option left and Coman is still only 19.

We shrunk our squad and made it more compact which would be okay if they were all known to be fit most of the time but half our team has an open hospital bill.

If we go through with that squad, season 16/17 aside, we're looking at the next summer transfer window having to replace 2 attackers without anybody in the works already. Of course I trust they'll figure it all out but it's way easier to secure someone now than to have to compete with others later with no choice but to splash since we are in dire need of one.

Just wrap up Mbappe or somebody like him now before he has his inevitable break out season making him 40/50m+. I don't know, maybe they're doing that already. But the squad as it is does give me a light headache.

Top team around us are stacking up.

Man City habe signed Gabriel Jesus, Sané, Zinchenko, Gündogan, Nolito and Marlo's Moreno. Not every single one of those players was necessary but every single one of them is an option for them now and at worst a profitable sale in the future.

United have signed Mkhitariyan, Ibrahimovic, Bailly and possibly Pogba, even though they still had players like Memphis (even though he wasn't performing well) and Rashford playing well in those positions. More significantly they still have Memphis and Rashford.

Barcelona have signed Denis Suarez, Umtiti, Digne and will sign another striker. Again more than they strictly speaking need but they're beneficial.

Dortmund have signed Dembele, Mor, Merino, Bartra, Guerreiro, Rode and Götze.

Just these 4 top clubs as examples have signed players. More than us, of course some of them needed more signings than we did anyway, but they still signed more than they numerically needed for cover to have more options.

I will rage if in the DFB Pokal semi final we start Green up front and Müller on the right and Coman left because Lewandowksi is suspended or worse, too tired and still has to play. Robben's thigh has gone again, Ribery is out with an injury and Costa has thigh problem too.

The bench is short because Javi's and Badstuber's knees are fucked again and Bernat's adductor is acting up.

Or worse, we have suitable players ready like a front line of e.g. Costa, Lewandowski and Robben, but they're be you d tired because their covers were injured and they had to be overplayed due to a shortage of options in the meantime leading up to it.

The worst thing about that? It's nowhere near impossible this won't happen. Because it all has before.

Now I do appreciate that we signed Sanches and Hummels (somewhat, personally hate him but that's irrelevant) but that's already it. 2 signings. And 5 departures.

We used to have big squads because we needed them, not because we liked them. I just don't want us to shoot ourselves in the foot thinking our fate with injuries will suddenly change 180 and then we've got an epidemic on our hands again without a solution because we sold them all and didn't replace them.

It's too easy to say "nah everything's fine, they know what they're doing" instead of facing the problem. I also know it's just as easy to say everything is going to shit like it may sound I'm doing. But even though I trust, I have a bad feeling.

I hope but am not too optimistic. Just one or two more would settle me down a lot more.
