Translating the tax relief promise into real action

if you want to compare hotels in different cities for 4 to 6 mo ths over the course of a year equivalent to 6 or 7 months in the sandbox

First off, that's 4-6 months EVERY year, not once or twice in a career. Second, plenty of that 4-6 months per year is in the same damn tents as everyone else in Kuwait (or Kandahar back in the day), and flying combat missions in war zones. Tax exemption doesn't exist to compensate you for how shitty your accommodations are, that's what hardship allowance is (which we are never in one place long enough to get).

I understand your anger

I'm not angry. I'm bringing up questions and people are questioning whether I'm even worthy to ask them because my salary is higher than theirs. That's just stupid.

If you feel a part of something greater by serving and being a part of our Canadian Forces, I would the say suck it the fuck up Sir, because you are embarrassing all of us with your greed and blatant ignorance regarding how much the rest of us get paid.

First off, I'm not sir. I'm a stranger on the internet. Second, your sob story doesn't change anything. I'm sorry going to the sandbox fucked you up (and in all seriousness, you sound like you have some serious issues and you really should reach out to someone for help), but to say that simply because you had a rough deployment and only got paid as a private that nobody else is worthy of the same benefits you got, or that somehow me bringing up benefits is an embarrassment or a display of ignorance and greed? Fuck you. Plenty of my crew members are Cpls or MCpls without spec pay, and they would be far more affected by this than I would be.

The government announced that everyone deployed on named operations overseas will get tax-free. All I'm wondering is whether aircrew like myself, who technically aren't "deployed" but are still putting our asses on the line flying combat missions overseas will be eligible for the same tax-free status that some fat-ass staff officer sitting behind a desk in Germany will get. That's a totally legitimate question, and I really don't care whether you think myself or my crew deserves tax free or not; the standard for being eligible for tax-free is not and should not be whether our time overseas fucks us up as much as it did you.

If you could make double at Air Canada and money is your priority than I would naturally say go there.

Money is not my priority (why do you think I'm still in the military?), but I have just as much right as any other CF member to discuss benefits. When a trade is experiencing a retention crisis (like the pilot trade is right now), you don't retain people by telling them to 'suck it the fuck up'.
