Trap 808

Are you mixing your track at the end? i.e. setting every fader to -inf and slowly bringing in each element to get a good mix. In this stage, I usually use the 808 as my "reference" sound and base everything off of it. This means I set it so that the 808 hits -6dB, and then fit every other channel volume around it. Then I use Ozone to "master" it to maximize the volume for the entire track.

In your example, I think the overpowering is not due to volume. There are some things that I think are going on:

-808 is not cutting through. You should try to layer a stronger kick with it.

-Melody is mostly lower-mid range frequencies, and this is always going to clash with the 808. You need to add a high frequency layer on top or add in more high end to get a balanced spectrum.

-Experiment with stereo width. Try to make your melody wide, and keep the 808 bass frequencies mono.
