I don't mind about hostage by rebels or so in Istanbul. I'm just afraid I accidentially commit a wrongdoing which would have led a police officer to a friendly "no" a few years ago but now might lead to show your papers... oh, that nationality? Some jerk in your country said some very bad words about our dear president... gotcha. This might well be exaggerated, but let's say if I have the choice right now to travel to a country without these worries and Turkey, I'll prefer the other countries.

I really, really hope situation eases soon. I never visit a foreigen town twice as there are too many on my list. Only exceptions: London (3 times in 15 years) and Istanbul (3 times in 4 years)
