Traveling solo to Australia next year, and I could definitely use some advice/recommendations.

I've been traveling around Australia for the past 8 months and loving it. Currently living in a hostel in a small farming town 8 hours from Melbourne, working on vineyard to earn some money.

I've done two road trips, first from Melbourne to Cairns on the Greyhound bus and then from Perth to Melbourne with some friends I met in a hostel. Both were amazing for different reasons, the east coast is built up and catered towards tourism so lots to do all along the coast (Fraser Island, Whitsundays, Cairns etc). The south coast is the complete opposite, lots of national parks, a few remote towns and villages and hardly any people.

Getting work in cities is pretty easy, me and three friends all doing jobs within 10 days in Melbourne.

There's only five real cities in Australia, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. All are worth a visit but Melbourne and Sydney are easily the two most interesting.

Advice for traveling alone.. stay in hostels and you'll quickly meet people. Look into doing some farm work, the work can be shitty and pay isn't always great but I've had a great experience and met loads of great people while doing it.
