Travis County COVID-19 confirmed cases have risen by 95 to 29,952. Death count has increased by 4 to 434. Here is a visualization of what we know so far. (OC - Updated 10/06)

Teacher here! Yes, true. Still, overall, a small number of kids added each week, according to needs (for example- Sped, 504) and grade level. Social distancing and masks in all schools are mandated and enforced, despite many people’s fears. The kids are doing great!

In my opinion, this is a good thing and needed for many kids and families. The CDC agrees we should try to have kids back in school as safely as possible (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/schools.html)

That being said, as a teacher- us in-person teachers are having to teach both in person and virtually for the unforeseeable future. It’s going to be tough, but I’m personally hoping to rise to the occasion. If you need to have your kids in-person, we will be happy to have them and do our best to keep them safe.

However, many schools are at 1/4 the number of regular in-person teachers we would normally have during a regular school year, because of waivers and teachers who have quit. Also, sadly- schools are a bit dystopian right now. We have already had some kids start and then go back to virtual because it’s not the same atmosphere they’d hoped for.

Just my experience.
