Treated like a criminal for needing ADHD medication

Unfortunately, I had a similar experience. I am a 41 years old mother of two adhd children and diagnosed with adhd 2 years ago.

My psychiatrist told me " Your medication is not essential" and she would no longer prescribe for me because I was "to needy".(I was having side effects). Sending me to a drug addiction clinic to continue my treatment. I was totally humiliated and I cried so much.

I requested a new psychiatrist and have been told by the new one " Your medication is habit forming and you need to have a break, so I will hold you prescription for a week then send it". I lost 3 weeks of productivity.

I feel bad for anyone else who has had this issue. It is completely dehumanising.
