TRUE: California’s uninsured rate has hit 'historic low'

You know what reduces the cost?

Single payer. Or a hybrid system like in Germany or Switzerland.

Many Democratic leaders have wanted for decades now to implement a single payer system. But they've never had the votes, the closest they got was when we passed the ACA, a half baked hybrid system. They had to make compromises with the moderate Democrats as well as 2 independent senators to defeat the Republican filibuster. Without that obstructionism from Republicans, we would have a much better system right now.

So yeah, Obamacare/ACA sucks. I freely admit that. But it sucks because of Republican obstructionism. It sucks because it is essentially Romneycare rolled out nationwide, but it's the best we could do to prevent people like me from dying. I'm going to be having surgery in 6 weeks that I would never have been able to afford before since nobody would have covered my pre-existing condition. It will very likely save my life, if I didn't have insurance, I'd have to wait until my bowel perforates and I need emergency surgery with a survival rate of around 50%.

So do you support single payer or a highly regulated hybrid system? And if not, what do you think the solution is, and why do you think your untested solution will work better than what has been shown to work literally dozens of times in many, many nations with a lot less wealth than us?
